What is a total loss claim?
Total loss of damaged vehicle shall be declared if it is uneconomical to repair;
Taking the following points into consideration.
- When the vehicle is totally destroyed/lost/due to insured peril.
- When the repair cost is equal to or more than the sum insured.
- When the repair cost is uneconomical:-
- When the estimated repair cost is equal to or more than 70% of the sum insured of the vehicle. In order to determine whether to declare a total loss it shall require knowing the salvage value of the vehicle
- If the estimated total repair cost exceeds the sum insured less the salvage value, then the vehicle shall be declared as a constructive total loss.
What are Unobtainable parts?
It is if any damaged accessory or part of the insured motor vehicle is obsolete and cannot be obtained from the dealer, the company shall pay the value of the accessory or part at the time of the damage, not exceeding the manufacture’s last quoted price for the accessory or part including a reasonable cost of fitting such accessory or part.
Third-party only cover?
It is a way of providing indemnity in respect of liability for accidental death or bodily injury to any person other than a person who at the time of sustaining such injury is engaged in the service of the insured. Liability for accidental damage (other than by fire and/or explosion) to property other than property belonging to or held in trust by or in the custody or control of the insured
What is motor’s own damage policy?
Provides for loss or damage to the specifically insured vehicle. This includes accidental collision or overturning or collision or overturning or by fire or impact consequently upon mechanical breakdown or consequent upon wear and tear
What is a Malicious act?
It is a loss of or damage to the insured motor vehicle and/or its accessories by a malicious act.
What is Market value?
It is the fair price for which a property can be sold in its current condition.
What is under insurance?
It’s when the sum insured stated in the policy is less than the value of the insured interest.
What Is Betterment?
It is a portion of the cost that you will have to pay when the damaged part of your vehicle is replaced with a new original part.
What is excess?
Is on a policy is the first amount that must be contributed by the insured towards each claim.
What is claim?
It is a notification by or on behalf of a claimant that an event likely to be covered by a policy has occurred, or is likely to occur, and giving formal notice to the insurer accordingly. Usually, a claim will be accompanied by a request for indemnification under the policy.
